Each day is unique! I serve many roles, but here are a few examples of what I do on a day-to-day basis:
- Collaborate with schools to support a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), which allows teachers to quickly identify student needs and the best methods to address them. These can be needs of individual students or groups of students, related to academics, behavior or both. The idea is to get each and every student – those with profound needs, those who are exceptionally gifted and all those in between – what he or she requires to be successful.
- Provide direct and indirect support with mClass universal screenings in reading, which includes administering assessments, collaborating with teachers to interpret student data, and matching the appropriate level of intervention support.
- Administer relevant assessments to provide additional data and understanding regarding a student's response to intervention.
- Administer comprehensive psychoeducational assessments to address areas of a suspected disability.
- Provide mental health and social emotional learning within a MTSS framework.
- Consult with school staff, families, community members, and private agencies, individually or though team meetings, regarding cognitive, academic, social and behavioral performance/needs of individuals and groups of students.
